São Roque is a Parish of Funchal that offers one of the best views over the entire city and harbour - with the entire Funchal amphitheatre spreading down to the sea. It also enjoys views of the higher areas, with the mountains as a backdrop.

Access to the city center is very easy, with abundant public transport making it even more convenient.

The Madeiran University is a few minutes' drive away, as are schools, churches, shopping, and practically everything you need to enjoy the best of Madeira.

We see a great many houses in our business, so when one comes along that gets everyone in the office excited, it must be very special. This one is.

The house was originally built in 1937, with thick stone walls, stone-paved exteriors, and matured exotic vegetation in the gardens and surrounds.

It was purchased by the present owners, who were well aware of the dire need for a complex renovation project. This they undertook, with care and excellent taste, and the end result is amazing.

The exterior walls and gardens were left in their charming original state, and the entire insides were re-done, both in layout and decoration. Using an elegant and intelligent mix of traditional and modern, all in extremely good taste and to a very high standard, the result is both warm and functional.

The spacious living/dinning room enjoys the most beautiful views and leads out onto a small, private garden with a cozy leisure area covered by a beautiful pergola. The same amazing views can be enjoyed from the bedrooms.
